The Study of Comparision with Infertile Women' s and the Normal Women's Self-Concept and Depression

Abstract
For the married couple, they can accomplish their task of generation, ego extension, achivement and happiness of life through their children. But the infertile couple, who has not their baby, may be placed in emotional. In this case study, I tied
to
find out the self-concept and depressed effective care plan by comparing with the normal woment's.
The object of this case study is as follows; Statistic data for infertile women were collected from forty women who were treating for infertility in "S" university hospital located in Seoul city and data for the normal women collected from women
who had
their children and were living in "P" city an "G" city, located near Seoul city. Instruments of this case study for comparing degree of self-concept and depression between the infertile women and the normal women were self-concept questionnaire"
based
on the work of Dr. Rosenberg(1971) and Dr.Choi(1972) and "self-rating depression scale' by Dr. Zung(1965).
Statistic data were analyzed by SPSS. The degree of self-concept and depression between the infertile women was the normal women was analyzed by t-test and variations correlated to self-concept and depression points of the infertile women were
analyzed
by ANOVA and relations between self-concept and depression points were analyzed by 'Pearson correlation coefficient'.
@ES Results of this cases study were as follows:
@EN 1. The level of self-concept of the infertile women was lower than of the normal women but neglected, because the difference was not significant.
2. The degree of depression of the infertile women was significantly higher than that of the normal women.
3. Hypothesis I, 'the level of self-concept of infertile women is lower than that of the normal woment's was rejected.(t=1.75, P=.083).
4. Hypothesis II. 'the degree of depression of the infertile women is higher than of the normal woment's was accepted. (t=2.90, P=.005).
Through this study, I propose that it is necessary for the infertile women to study more inclusively and profoundly regarding the various causes of self-concept and for the infertile women, who has the lower level of self-concept and the higher
degree
of depression than that of the normal women, to establish the schological nursing care plan.
